Our history

1918 January Toyoda Boshoku Corporation (the forerunner to Toyota Boshoku) founded (Capital: 500 yen, President: Sakichi Toyoda)
1923 November Kariya Test Plant (currently Kariya Plant) established in Kariya-cho, Hekikai-gun, Aichi
1935 October Principles of Toyoda formulated
1942 March Merged with affiliates. Surviving company named Chuo Spinning Company.
1943 November Chuo Spinning Company merged with Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (currently Toyota Motor Corporation)
  Toyoda Boshoku Corporation Araco Corporation Takanichi Co., Ltd.
1947     Established as Arakawa Sheet Metal Industries Co., Ltd. Started producing body parts and entered the interior components business later.  
1950 May Minsei Spinning Co., Ltd. established as a separate entity from Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (currently Toyota Motor Corporation) (Capital: 150 million yen, President: Toshio Yoshikawa)    
August Stock listed on Nagoya Stock Exchange, First Section    
1960       Established as Takashimaya Nippatsu Industries Co., Ltd. Started producing automotive interior components.
1967 August Company name changed to Toyoda Boshoku Corporation    
1972 February Entered automotive components field, beginning with ignition coils and also including car seat fabrics.    
2000 March Stock listed on Tokyo Stock Exchange, First Section    
October Merged with Toyota Kakoh Co., Ltd.

April Toyota Boshoku Foshan Co., Ltd. established in China for the manufacture of filters and powertrain components
June Toyota Boshoku Asia Co., Ltd. (established in June 2001) started operations as Asia & Oceania Regional Management & Collaboration Hub
July Toyota Boshoku America, Inc. (established in May 2001) started operations as North & South America Regional Management & Collaboration Hub
Toyota Boshoku Europe N.V. was established as Europe & Africa Regional Management & Collaboration Hub
Toyota Boshoku South Africa (Pty) Ltd. established in South Africa for the manufacture of seats and interior components
November Tianjin Feng'Ai Automotive Seat Parts Co., Ltd. established in China for the manufacture of metal components for seats
2006 March Y2010 Environmental Action Plan announced
April Toyota Boshoku LLC established in Russia for the manufacture of seats
July Toyota Boshoku Canada, Inc. established in Canada for the manufacture of seats and interior components
September Toyota Boshoku Shiga Corporation established for the manufacture of filters and powertrain components and interior/exterior components
2007 August Toyota Boshoku do Brasil Ltda. established in Brazil for the manufacture of seats, door trims and filters and powertrain components
Toyota Boshoku Mississippi, LLC. established in the United States for the production of seats and interior components
November Toyota Boshoku Indiana, LLC. established in the United States for the manufacture of seat frames and seat urethane foams
December Toyota Boshoku (China) Co., Ltd. (established in March 2002) started operations as China Regional Management & Collaboration Hub
Cowerk Co., Ltd. made a subsidiary for the manufacture for interior components.
2008 February Toyota Boshoku Uniform Corporation(now TB Unifashion Corporation) established for the planning and sales of uniforms
August Toyota Boshoku Technical Skills Academy established for the purpose of developing human resources that will become core personnel of technical-related workplaces Research Laboratories established to create and expand business domains for the future
September Automotive Technology Systems, LLC. (now Toyota Boshoku Illinois, LLC.)established in the United States for the manufacture of seats and interior components
October Toyota Boshoku Somain S.A.S. established in France for the manufacture of seats, interior components and filters and powertrain components
2009 January TBAI Poland Sp.z o.o.(now Toyota Boshoku Poland Sp.z o.o) established in Poland for the manufacture of metal components for seats and seat covers
August Fujisusono Plant commenced manufacture of seats and door trims
October Kanto Seat Works, Ltd. made a subsidiary and the company name changed to Toyota Boshoku Tohoku Corporation
December TB Kawashima Co., Ltd. was established as an affiliate for the development and manufacture of interior materials
2010 September Changchun Faway Toyota Boshoku Auto Parts Co., Ltd. was established in China for the manufacture of seats and interior components
2011 January Toyota Boshoku Tohoku Corporation's Miyagi Plant commenced manufacture of seats
March Y2015 Environmental Action Plan announced
June TB Sewtech de Mexico, S. de R. L. de C.V. established after integrating the seat cover business in Mexico
July Boshoku Automotive Europe GmbH commenced business operations after acquiring interior components business from a European component maker
July Boshoku Automotive Poland sp. Z o.o. established in Poland for the manufacture of interior components
August Systems Automotive Interiors, LLC established in the United States for the manufacture of seats
September Milan Design Branch established as a design studio in Europe
2012 April Long-term management vision “2020 Vision” and “Mid-term Management Plan until 2015” instituted
May Boshoku Automotive Czech s. r. o. established in Czech for the manufacture of interior components
June TB Sewtech Turkey Otomotiv Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Sirketi established in Turkey for the manufacture of seat covers
2013 April Toyota Boshoku receives first order for railway seats utilized in the Hokuriku Bullet Train "Gran Class" car
April Toyota Boshoku Lao Co.,Ltd. established in Laos for the manufacture of seat covers
June Shenyang Toyota Boshoku Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. established in China for the manufacture of seats and interior components
July Heyuan Toyota Boshoku Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. established in China for the manufacture of seats and interior components
November Boshoku Automotive (Thailand) Co.,Ltd. established in Thailand for the manufacture of seat covers and interior components
2014 March Toyota Boshoku completed own proving ground, the Tajimi Technical Center and commenced trial operations
2015 April ANA and Toyota Boshoku jointly develop new seats for economy class on domestic flights announced
2016 April Toyota Boshoku America Silicon Valley Office established as an R&D base for Toyota Boshoku America, Inc.
May Formulates 2050 Environmental Vision
