(Kariya, Japan) August 5, 2010 – Toyota Boshoku Corporation (Headquarters: Kariya, Aichi Pref., President: Shuhei Toyoda) and Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kariya, Aichi Pref., President: Fumio Fujimori) have decided to jointly manufacture automobile interior parts and engine air intake system parts in the city of Sorocaba in the state of Sao Paulo in Brazil.

The affiliate that will be in charge of manufacturing shall be “Toyota Boshoku Do Brasil LTDA. (hereinafter “TBDB”)”, which was established by Toyota Boshoku in 2007 for the purpose of promoting its business in Brazil. Toyota Boshoku and Aisin Seiki will increase their capital investments in TBDB in stages by adding a total of approximately 2.5 billion yen in capital and they also plan to manage the business operations of TBDB by changing the form of the company to a manufacturing company. TBDB will manufacture seats, door trim, and air cleaners for a newly developed compact car that is planned to be produced at the new Brazilian plant of Toyota Motor Corporation.

Toyota Boshoku and Aisin Seiki will continue their cooperative relationship through joint development and manufacturing of seat frame parts and TBDB will become the fourth jointly owned and operated company after the companies in the cities of Guangzhou and Tianjin in China and the company in Poland. From this point forward both Toyota Boshoku and Aisin Seiki will continue to utilize their particular areas of expertise to manufacture high quality and low cost seats for automobiles in Brazil and also aim to further strengthen the optimal manufacturing and distribution system in the South American region.
