Highlights of Initiatives in FY2023
Social contribution activities during coexistence with the coronavirus
In fiscal 2023, the third year of the coronavirus pandemic, we continued to implement activities to prevent the spread of infection and reduce the load on local medical services. In addition, having implemented measures to prevent infection, we engaged in creative activities at sites around the world, including resuming some of the activities that we had been conducting previously.
Four Core Areas of Our Social Contribution Activities
The Toyota Boshoku group strives to make a contribution to society, with active member participation as the driving force behind our activities in four core areas, namely activities with local communities, environmental activities, fostering youth through education, and contributing to disaster recovery assistance, aimed at meeting the expectations of stakeholders.
Activities with Local Communities
The Toyota Boshoku group is not just focused on the local areas we operate in, we’re also committed to helping to stimulate and revitalize local economies around the world. For example, we work to vitalize local economies, and contribute to the resolution of social issues through such activities as blood drives and food donations to care homes. In fiscal 2023 our social initiatives saw us working with around 1,000 organizations in 18 different countries.

Exchange activities with the local community by Manager’s Society
Toyota Boshoku has "Manager’s Society"* for each job position, which carry out voluntary activities. Along with mutual cooperation among the association members through horizontal connections that go beyond their divisions, we are conducting various activities both inside and outside the company, while building strong interpersonal relationships.

Relief clothing collection activities: Conducted ad hoc since 2000
Out of a desire to help those suffering from clothing shortages around the world, we collect clothing and raise funds for shipping costs, and make donations to African, Middle Eastern and Asian countries through NPOs. (Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, these activities are currently suspended. Activities are scheduled to resume in fiscal 2024).
Food donations to orphanages
Every year, we donate items including drinking water and sweets to an orphanage in Rayong Province, Thailand (Toyota Boshoku Filtration System (Thailand) Co., Ltd.).
Food drives
In association with Toyota city, we ran a food drive to donate surplus household foodstuffs to welfare organizations and other important organizations. This drive provided assistance to people struggling to afford food, while simultaneously contributing to a reduction in food loss (Toyota Boshoku).
Blood donation events
In fiscal 2023, blood donation events were again held at each of the Toyota Boshoku group’s sites, despite the coronavirus pandemic.
Number of participants: 1,015
In addition, the Kariya Plant received the "Silver Merit Award" from the Japanese Red Cross Society, which is presented to organizations that have continuously cooperated in blood donation for 15 years or longer.
In fiscal 2024, Toyota Boshoku will continue to conduct blood donation events twice a year to help alleviate the serious blood shortage, and each of our sites will cooperate proactively with blood donation.
