Toyota Boshoku receives first order for railway seats ~ Seats to be utilized in the Hokuriku Bullet Train "Gran Class" car ~

Kariya (Japan) - April 16, 2013 - Toyota Boshoku Corporation is pleased to announce that railway seats it has developed will debut for the first time in the Hokuriku Bullet Train's new E7 and W7 "Gran Class"* car. The train car is the result of joint development between the East Japan Railway Company (JR-East) and West Japan Railway Company (JR West).

The extra comfortable seats were created to enhance the luxurious interior space of the new Gran Class car in the Hokuriku Bullet Train. High-grade materials and high-class design have been employed to suit the dignified atmosphere of the new upper class train car. Moreover, the plush seats have been designed to envelop the entire body ensuring that customers enjoy a thoroughly comfortable ride even during long excursions.

Toyota Boshoku has invested many years in the pursuit of ride comfort for luxurious automobile seating and now puts its ergonomics expertise into the development and production of creating high quality railway seats. *The Gran Class car is a new grade of train car that has been in operation by the Tohoku Bullet Train since 2011. The train car takes its name from the French word "Gran" and the English word "Class" to best express the luxurious interior space of the new train car.
