Toyota Boshoku Exhibits its Next Generation Technology at The 4th CIAPE, With the Aim of Expanding its Chinese Enterprise

The Toyota Boshoku group, as a world-class interior system supplier and filter maker, has been developing and manufacturing automotive interior parts and filtration & power train components in 86 locations throughout the world. With a sales of 953.7 billion yen (consolidated) and an operating profit of 25.1 billion yen for the fiscal year ending March of 2010, it ranks No.3 among automotive interior parts makers worldwide, and No.1 within Japan (Toyota Boshoku Survey).

Toyota Boshoku will be participating in the 4th China International Auto Parts Expo (CIAPE), which will be held at the China International Exhibition Center (Beijing) from September 25th (Saturday) to the 27th (Monday), and will be exhibiting its environmental technologies and products that contribute to “Environmentally Friendly Automotive Production.”

The Lightweight & Energy-saving Technology Corner will exhibit the “Next-Generation Seat Frame” and power train components, which have undergone a revolutionary weight reduction through the reevaluation of structure and materials. The guiding keywords were “Eliminate, Integrate and Simplify”. The Bio-technology Corner will exhibit products such as the “Door Trim Base Material made from Kenaf and Polylactic Acid” and the “Bio-Urethane Seat Pad”, developed with the aim of realizing “an all plant-derived automobile’s interior space”.

1. Main Exhibits

Lightweight & Energy-Saving Technology:

  1) Next Generation Seat Frame TB-NF110(manual) and TB-NF110(power)
  2) Door Trim Substrate of Lightweight Polypropylene Form, using the method of thin profile injection molding and high expansion of foam.
  3) Resign Intake Manifold for Horizontally-Opposed 4-Cylinder Engine and Resign Cylinder Head Cover with Oil Control Valve
  4) Replaceable Element Oil Filter, which leads to a significant reduction in waste.
  5) 2-Layer Melt-blow Air Conditioning Filter that improved productivity by using the 2-layer melt-blow method.
  6) Low Friction Seatbelt Webbings that reduces occupant restriction and has good pulling and retracting performances.


1) Door Trim Base Material made from Kenaf and Polylactic Acid, Stronger heat resistance.
2) Bio-Urethane Seat Pad that uses “castor oil” for part of the seat cushions.
3) Injection Molded Parts made from Kenaf and Polypropylene, using kenaf fibers.
4) PTT Fiber Fabric, using Polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) fiber partially produced from plant sugar.
5) Eco-plastic*Trim Cover Material
* The name of a plastic developed by the Toyota Motor Corporation, which contains a plant-derived compound that has superior urability and shock resistance when compared to other bio-plastics.
