Toyota Boshoku develops Seat Ventilation System for Compact Cars - First installation in Toyota's new Corolla model -

Product, Technology, Event

Kariya (JAPAN) - May 22, 2012 - Toyota Boshoku Corporation (President Shuhei Toyoda) has jointly developed a "driver's seat with ventilation and heaters", which is equipped with an air-blowing function, along with the Toyota Motor Corporation and DENSO Corporation. The new seat is installed in the new Corolla model that went on sale in May by the Toyota Motor Corporation, and this is the first time that a seat ventilation system has been installed in a compact car.

The newly developed seat ventilation system enables cool air to flow from the seat and seat back on warm days, and warms the driver's shoulders, back and legs on cold days. A compact, high-efficient centrifugal fan has been built into the seat and fabric with superior ventilation characteristics has been adopted in order to provide a cooler seat. Interior comfort has also been improved by placing the fan outlets in locations that will maximize passenger comfort.

Additionally, by placing the centrifugal fan in the upper portion of the seat back, this ensures that there is plenty of legroom for passengers in the back seat, even in a compact car.

The seat ventilation system is standard equipment for the driver's seat in the Corolla Axio 1.5 liter Luxel grade, which was redesigned under the new concept of "a spacious compact car". In the future, we will continue to pursue the development of this seat with the aim of having it installed in a wide variety of vehicles, above and beyond compact cars.

The Toyota Boshoku group continues to create comfortable automobile interior spaces and to provide our customers around the world with the ultimate in mobility to match their lifestyle.
